Pediatric Tracheostomies, Mechanical Ventilation and Respiratory Support Equipment

Overview

This four-hour course for the pediatric acute care nurse provides an overview of the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system and a review of respiratory deficits and why mechanical ventilation is needed. An overview of home ventilators, tracheostomy tubes, oxygenation, humidification and suctioning is provided. Hands-on practice with equipment is included.
The course includes:
• Review of anatomy and physiology of respiratory system
• Overview of respiratory deficits and why mechanical ventilation is needed
• Overview of ventilators, tracheostomy tubes, humidification, suctioning and oxygenation    
equipment
• Practice with equipment, especially alarms
• Return demonstration of working with equipment

Accreditation & Certification

Legacy Health System, Patient Care, 1015 NW 22nd Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97210, is approved as a continuing education provider.  Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP8749 for a maximum of 4.0 contact hours.
